Ugandan music producer BassBoi has officially launched his own recording studio, BassBoi Wave Studios, marking a major career milestone after spending a year working on the move.
The producer became emotional during the launch as he thanked the people who helped turn his dream of owning a permanent recording space into reality. Among those he singled out were fellow musicians and industry figures who contributed money, equipment and other forms of support.
Singer Spice Diana was among his biggest supporters, with BassBoi revealing that she gave him Shs2.5 million in cash and purchased a microphone worth Shs6 million to help him get started.
“When I went to Spice Diana, she gave me Shs2.5 million and bought me a microphone worth Shs6 million,” BassBoi said.

The producer also acknowledged Mukono-based musician Mr. Phill, who contributed Shs1 million towards the project. He expressed gratitude to other artistes who supported him, although he said he could not mention everyone individually.
Another significant contribution came from the PDM photography boss, whom BassBoi credited with providing Shs5 million towards rent and renovation expenses for the new studio.
The support helped BassBoi establish a dedicated workspace where he can now offer recording services without the challenges associated with constantly working from different locations.
Beyond the financial assistance, BassBoi also used the occasion to recognize the mentorship that helped shape his career.
He thanked Frank Jah of JahLive Studios for giving him an opportunity to work and learn under him while he was still at university. BassBoi said he valued the opportunity and did not take the experience for granted.
The launch of BassBoi Wave Studios represents a new chapter for the producer, who is now working to build his own brand and establish an independent presence in Uganda’s competitive music industry.
His latest move follows a reported fallout with his former boss, who allegedly dismissed him from the studio where he had previously worked over claims that he failed to properly account for money earned from recording artistes. The circumstances surrounding the reported dispute have not been further detailed in the supplied account.
Despite that setback, BassBoi has moved forward with his own venture, backed by contributions from people who believed in his ambitions.
With his studio now officially launched, the producer has a permanent base from which to serve recording artistes and develop his business. After a year of working on the move, BassBoi is now building a space of his own.
