Ugandan singer Pia Pounds says moving to the United States helped her rediscover her musical passion after two years of struggling with writer’s block, revealing that the fresh start has revived her creativity and paved the way for an upcoming album.
In her latest vlog, Pia disclosed that she left Uganda for the US in July, describing the decision as the best she has ever made. She said arriving in America gave her an unexpected sense of belonging and helped her discover a different side of herself.
“When I landed, I felt home. It felt like I belonged. As if some version of me had been locked away all my life waiting for me to be here,” she said.

The singer also opened up about the creative struggles she experienced before relocating. According to Pia, she spent two years battling writer’s block, a period during which she struggled to write songs, sing and maintain the motivation that had previously driven her artistry.
Her experience in the US has since given her an opportunity to reassess her music and overall artistic identity. Pia said she is working to improve her sound, presentation, personal brand and fashion as she prepares for the next stage of her career.
Rather than waiting for inspiration to return on its own, the singer decided to challenge herself by learning a new musical instrument and practising daily.
“I decided to challenge myself creatively by learning a new instrument and practice everyday. It took about three months before I locked in and my writer’s block vanished,” Pia explained.
The breakthrough appears to have changed how she approaches her music. She said she now feels free creatively and is preparing to release an album that has undergone what she described as world-class production.
Although she has not provided a release date or revealed the album’s title and tracklist in the supplied material, Pia expressed confidence that her fans will appreciate the new project.
“I believe my fans will be proud of me. Your girl is trying to represent her country beyond borders. I’m trying to be better than I was yesterday and I’m trying to enjoy the journey,” she said.
She added that the highs and lows of the transition are part of the process as she works toward her ambitions.

Pia’s renewed musical focus comes as she expands her international presence through performances in the United States, including reported stops in Denver and Boston, Massachusetts.
Her move abroad therefore represents more than a change of location in her own account. It has also given her room to experiment creatively, refine her image and prepare new music after a prolonged period of difficulty.
With an album in the works and international performances underway, Pia Pounds is entering a new phase of her career, hoping to turn the creative breakthrough she describes into music that reaches audiences beyond Uganda.
