Ugandan DJ Shafic, popularly known as Mr. Vibes, has earned a nomination in the Best Diaspora Act category at this year’s Hipipo Awards, marking another milestone in his journey from the entertainment scene in Masaka to the international stage.
The Canada-based entertainer is now attracting recognition for his work beyond Uganda, having built a career that stretches across radio, nightclub performances and international DJ tours.
Born Shafic Kasiita on February 2, 1992, DJ Shafic developed his passion for deejaying through inspiration from internationally recognised DJs Black Coffee and DJ Puffy. Closer to home, Ugandan DJ Shiru also played an important role in encouraging him to pursue the profession.
His journey began at Club Ambiance in Masaka before he moved to Club Ambiance in Bukesa, Kampala. From there, he went on to perform at several of the city’s major entertainment spots, gradually establishing himself within Uganda’s nightlife scene.

But DJ Shafic’s career has not been limited to the DJ booth.
He has also built experience in radio broadcasting, having worked with Radio Buddu in Masaka, Best FM, Digida FM and CBS FM. At CBS FM, he hosted a night radio programme alongside Dikteta Mark and Alexander Lujja.
His work earned him two Club DJ regional awards, with recognition in both Masaka and Kampala before he eventually relocated to Canada, where he is currently based.
The move has opened another chapter in his entertainment career.
Earlier this year, DJ Shafic completed what was described as a successful Canadian DJ tour dubbed The DJ Shafic Afro Zaza Canada Tour, taking his sound and performance experience to audiences outside Uganda.
And he is already looking beyond Canada.
The DJ is planning another international tour in 2027, with scheduled destinations including Amsterdam in the Netherlands, London in England, Nairobi in Kenya and several locations across Canada.
His Hipipo Awards nomination therefore comes as he continues working to expand his presence within the international entertainment market.
Beyond the recognition and performances, DJ Shafic says he wants his journey to inspire young Africans who dream of building careers in entertainment, regardless of where they come from.
Speaking to MBU, he explained that his ambition goes beyond personal success.

“I want to inspire all our young generation in Africa to show them that it’s possible, no matter where you’re coming from, your colour, or where you were born, and I thank Canada for the opportunity to express my work,” he said.
The father of two, whose children are Myra Kasiita and Sharifer Kasiita, also encouraged his supporters to watch out for his upcoming performances, promising more energy and good vibes wherever he takes the decks.
For Mr. Vibes, the Hipipo Awards nomination adds another chapter to a journey that started in Masaka and continues to reach audiences far beyond Uganda.
