David Lutalo, one of Uganda’s most celebrated vocalists, is speaking out about rising singer Gloria Bugie, claiming the talented vocalist could break onto the global music scene.
In a candid interview with Shalom Kaweesi, Lutalo expressed admiration for Bugie’s vocal prowess and unique sound, praising her ability to stand out among Uganda’s female artists.
“Do you people know that she is a good artist? Gloria Bugie sings so well. She is unbeatable and among the female artists who sing so well in Uganda. Very few female artists can sing the way she does,” Lutalo said.
Unique Vocals with International Appeal
Lutalo compared Bugie’s voice to top African and international performers, noting the versatility and power of her vocals:
- Tiwa Savage – Nigeria’s Afrobeat queen
- Zuchu – Tanzanian Bongo Flava sensation
- Selected Indian artists
“Her vocals can work well anywhere, across the world. Her voice is like Tiwa Savage’s, Zuchu’s, and some Indian artists. She is really good. I have heard her sing live as well, outside the studio,” Lutalo added.
He believes her raw talent and live performance skills give her the potential to succeed beyond Uganda’s borders, making her a promising candidate for international stardom.
Controversy Doesn’t Diminish Talent
Lutalo also addressed the challenges Bugie has faced, noting that controversy surrounding her personal life may have overshadowed her musical abilities.
“She’s a good artist whom people have just not given enough attention to because of the controversy surrounding her lifestyle,” he said.
Despite these hurdles, Lutalo insists her exceptional vocals and stage presence are undeniable and deserving of recognition on global platforms.
