Ugandan media personality Caroline Marcah has shared a chilling account of her brief time in boarding school, revealing experiences that left her emotionally scarred and shaped her parenting decisions.

A Single Year, A Lifetime of Trauma

Marcah admits she only spent one year in a boarding school, but that short period was enough to leave deep emotional wounds. She recounted disturbing encounters with school staff that still haunt her today.

“I was constantly pulled out of the dormitory late at night by the matron, who would take me to the headmaster,” Marcah explained. “He made inappropriate love advances. Those memories have never left me.”

Her revelations highlight a persistent and overlooked problem in some educational institutions: abuse of power and exploitation of students.

A Widespread Issue

Marcah warned that sexual misconduct in schools and universities is far more widespread than people realize.

“These things are happening in schools and campuses. Lecturers are having sexual affairs with students, and unfortunately, this is the devil that hasn’t been attacked,” she said.

She also shared a sobering example from her circle: a friend who contracted HIV from a lecturer, underscoring the seriousness and prevalence of such abuse.

Parenting Decisions Influenced by Trauma

Because of her experience, Marcah has vowed never to send her own child to boarding school. Instead, she prefers day schooling, where she can monitor and protect her child closely.

“I don’t want my child to go through what I went through. Being able to see and guide them daily is the safest choice,” she stated.
