Former secular singer turned gospel powerhouse Grace Nakimera has revealed that she has completely let go of her old nightlife lifestyle — and she’s never been happier.

In a heartfelt interview, the “Kawonawo” hitmaker shared that even walking past a bar now makes her feel uneasy, a reminder of how deeply her life has transformed since becoming a born-again Christian.

“I don’t miss the bar anymore,” Grace confessed. “Even when I pass close to it, I feel bad. I don’t miss it at all. Where I am right now is the best decision I have ever made in my life.”

The singer, who once dominated Uganda’s secular music scene with chart-topping hits and electric stage performances, said she has found a deeper sense of peace, purpose, and success in her new life of faith.

“I’m Doing Even Better Than Before”

Grace Nakimera didn’t just turn her back on nightlife — she turned her life around completely.

According to her, her decision to follow Christ has brought blessings far beyond what she ever imagined during her pop career.

“I am not broke; I am doing great, and even better than back then,” she said proudly. “Some people in bars and those who are drinking don’t have money. They are living a life of ‘fake it until you make it.’”

Grace explained that her faith has brought her true prosperity — not just financially, but spiritually and emotionally. She credits God for giving her a renewed sense of stability and contentment that she never found in fame.

From “Kawonawo” to Christ

Grace Nakimera rose to fame in the early 2000s with her sultry voice and energetic hits like “Kawonawo,” “Anfuuka,” and “Sukuma.” Known for her captivating performances and bold style, she was once a fixture in Kampala’s nightlife scene, performing at top clubs and events across the country.

However, after years in the limelight, Grace shocked many when she announced her transition to gospel music — a move that drew both support and skepticism from fans and fellow artists.

But years later, her conviction remains unshaken.

“If you don’t have God in your life, you have nothing,” Grace declared. “Some used to tell me that being born again is crap, but when I compare my life to theirs, I can testify that God has done a great work in me.”

“The Peace I Have Now Is Priceless”

Grace emphasized that her new journey isn’t about losing fun — it’s about gaining peace.

She described how life before salvation felt glamorous on the outside but empty on the inside. The fame, parties, and attention never truly filled her heart.

Now, she says, her faith brings her a sense of calm and purpose that no nightclub or chart-topping hit ever could.

“There’s a peace that comes with knowing God — it’s something I can’t describe,” she shared. “When I look back at who I was, I realize how much He’s changed me.”

Encouraging Others to Seek Faith

Grace used her story as a message to anyone feeling lost in the chaos of modern life. She urged people, especially those chasing fame or temporary pleasures, to seek a relationship with God.

“Life without God is empty,” she said. “When I look at some of the people I used to party with, many are still struggling, and I just thank God for saving me.”

Her bold testimony has inspired thousands of fans online, many of whom have flooded her social media pages with messages of love and gratitude for sharing her story so openly.

One fan wrote, “Grace is proof that you can change and still succeed. God restores everything.”
Another commented, “She looks happier and more at peace now — you can see it in her glow.”

What’s Next for Grace Nakimera?

Since her transformation, Grace has continued to make waves in the gospel world. Her uplifting tracks and worship sessions on YouTube have earned her a growing following among both longtime fans and new believers.

Her ministry now focuses on faith, empowerment, and healing, using music as a tool to reach hearts and encourage change.

In addition to her gospel career, Grace has also been involved in charity work and community outreach, focusing on helping underprivileged women and children.

“My mission now is to use my voice for God’s glory,” she said. “If my story can help one person turn their life around, then it’s all worth it.”

From Nightlife to New Life

Grace Nakimera’s transformation from a nightclub favorite to a gospel beacon is nothing short of remarkable. Her honesty about her past and her confidence in her faith have turned her into a symbol of redemption and grace.

While some may remember her for her dance hits and stage glamour, Grace wants to be remembered for something more enduring — her testimony of faith.

“The bars gave me temporary joy,” she reflected. “But with God, I found everlasting peace.”
