As Uganda’s political temperature continues to rise, Big Talent Entertainment (BTE) boss and BET Award–winning star Eddy Kenzo is stepping into the national conversation with a strong but measured warning—and it’s already sparking debate.

The celebrated musician and cultural icon has urged political candidates to avoid harsh, aggressive, and inciting language during campaign rallies, warning that such rhetoric could have dangerous consequences, especially in a politically sensitive season.

Kenzo’s comments come as candidates crisscross the country mobilizing supporters ahead of crucial polls, with emotions running high and public scrutiny intensifying by the day.

Eddy Kenzo Speaks Out on Campaign Language

While addressing the media, Eddy Kenzo expressed deep concern about the tone and style some politicians are using to rally supporters, saying the growing trend of incisive and aggressive rhetoric is unhealthy for the nation.

According to Kenzo, leadership—especially in moments of political tension—requires calm, responsibility, and persuasion, not inflammatory language that could be misunderstood or misused.

“The way some leaders are speaking to people is worrying,” Kenzo noted, emphasizing that words carry weight and influence behavior.

Kenzo Cites Bobi Wine’s Remarks

In a moment that immediately grabbed public attention, Kenzo specifically referenced comments made by National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.

Kenzo said the way Bobi Wine recently addressed his supporters sounded as though he was encouraging them to act like rebels—a message Kenzo believes could put ordinary citizens at risk.

“My fans who support NUP, please don’t get involved in activities that are not right,” Kenzo said.
“Just wait for January 15th and go vote for your president. But that command to go and act like rebels is very dangerous. Don’t do it.”

The remarks instantly fueled conversation online, with fans, political analysts, and fellow artists weighing in on the responsibility public figures carry during election seasons.

“Don’t Put People in Harm’s Way”

Kenzo made it clear that his message was not an attack on any political party, but rather a plea for restraint and responsibility.

As an artist with a massive following across political divides, he stressed that supporters often take leaders’ words literally, and careless language can unintentionally escalate tensions.

Industry observers note that Kenzo’s position reflects concern not just for politics—but for the safety of ordinary Ugandans, many of whom passionately support their chosen candidates.

A Call for Calm, Persuasion, and Respect

Beyond his comments about Bobi Wine, Kenzo issued a broader appeal to all political actors, urging them to rethink how they communicate with voters.

“I humbly encourage all political candidates to avoid using harsh language and words during the campaigns,” Kenzo said.
“The ‘let’s all lose out’ approach doesn’t work.”

Instead, the singer encouraged politicians to embrace a modern, respectful style of campaigning, one rooted in persuasion rather than confrontation.

Kenzo’s Campaign Advice to Politicians

According to Kenzo, the new political era demands a shift in mindset—one where leaders earn votes through clarity, respect, and vision, not fear or anger.

He advised candidates to:

  • Speak calmly and respectfully to voters
  • Clearly explain their manifestos
  • Show how promises will be implemented
  • Ask for votes instead of commanding people

“In this new era, you just have to ask, request, and convince people to give you their vote,” he explained.
“Speak to people well, calmly share your manifesto, and show how it will be executed.”

Why Kenzo’s Voice Carries Weight

Eddy Kenzo isn’t just another celebrity weighing in—he’s one of Uganda’s most internationally recognized artists, a former BET Award winner, and a figure who commands respect across age groups and political lines.

Over the years, Kenzo has often positioned himself as:

  • A unifying cultural figure
  • An advocate for peace and stability
  • A role model for young people

That’s why his comments have resonated widely, especially among fans who see him as a voice of reason during turbulent times.

Political Climate Reaches Boiling Point

Kenzo’s message comes as Uganda’s political atmosphere continues to intensify, with:

  • Packed rallies across the country
  • Heightened emotions among supporters
  • Increased scrutiny of leaders’ words and actions

Analysts say moments like these test the maturity of political actors—and highlight the importance of responsible communication.

Public Reaction: Mixed but Loud

Unsurprisingly, Kenzo’s comments have drawn mixed reactions.

Some supporters applauded him for:

  • Speaking up for peace
  • Prioritizing citizen safety
  • Calling for respectful politics

Others accused him of:

  • Overstepping into politics
  • Singling out Bobi Wine
  • Playing it “too safe”

Still, even critics admit the conversation he sparked is one Uganda needs to have.

Artists and Politics: A Delicate Balance

Kenzo’s remarks also reignited debate about the role of artists in political discourse.

Should musicians remain neutral?
Should they speak out when they sense danger?
Do influential figures have a moral obligation to caution their fans?

Kenzo appears to believe the answer is clear: influence comes with responsibility.

A Message to Supporters, Not Just Politicians

Perhaps most notably, Kenzo directly addressed his own fans, particularly those aligned with NUP, urging them to remain peaceful and lawful regardless of political passion.

His message was simple:

  • Vote.
  • Don’t provoke trouble.
  • Don’t risk your safety.

In a charged environment, that appeal struck many as both timely and necessary.

The Bigger Picture

As Uganda heads deeper into campaign season, voices like Eddy Kenzo’s highlight a crucial reality: how leaders speak matters just as much as what they promise.

Whether politicians heed his advice remains to be seen—but the warning has been issued, publicly and unmistakably.

💬 Do you agree with Eddy Kenzo’s call for calmer campaign language?
