Alex Muhangi, the acclaimed comedian and founder of Comedy Store UG, has officially been elected as the new President of The Uganda Comedians Association (TUCA), marking a new era for the nation’s comedy industry.
The announcement came during a high-profile meeting at Royal Suites, Bugolobi, which brought together prominent comedians and stakeholders from across Uganda’s entertainment scene.
“This gathering allowed us to openly discuss key challenges facing comedians and explore strategies to align our industry under a unified vision,” Muhangi said.
Succeeding a Founding Leader
Muhangi takes over from Hannington Bugingo, the founding president who led TUCA since its creation in early 2019. Bugingo was instrumental in establishing TUCA as a platform for comedian collaboration, regulation, and advocacy.
TUCA was officially launched in January 2020 with the goal of uniting Ugandan comedians, promoting professionalism, and advocating for the welfare of artists nationwide.

As a comedian, producer, and entrepreneur, Alex Muhangi brings extensive experience and industry insight to his new role. Under his leadership, TUCA is expected to strengthen industry standards, support emerging talent, and create sustainable growth opportunities for comedians across the country.
