Ugandan singer Jowy Landa has revealed that she hopes to start a family within the next two years, saying she has already informed her new management about her plans.
The 25-year-old musician recently signed a lucrative deal with new management and says her career has been her primary focus for the past few years. Now, she is beginning to think more seriously about her personal life and future.
“I’m thinking of being so serious in two years to come. That is when I want to also start having children and I have already informed my management about it,” Jowy said in an interview.
“They know and whatever plans they have for me, they should know that I will be pregnant in two years to come,” she added.
Jowy’s comments come as she continues to build her music career in Uganda’s competitive entertainment industry, where artists often face pressure to consistently release music and remain visible.
But the singer said she does not view motherhood as something that would necessarily interrupt her career.
“I do music not out of pressure but I’m enjoying something that I love doing. I do not think there is something that can drag me behind,” she explained.
Jowy pointed to fellow Ugandan singer Sheebah as an example of an artist who stepped away from music to have a child before returning to the industry.
“Look at Sheebah, she took time off and gave birth. But even when she came back, she was still leading the industry,” Jowy said.
She also spoke about motherhood as something she personally wants to experience, acknowledging that childbirth comes with challenges.
“I know childbirth is painful but I have to go through it,” she said.
Jowy also made it clear that she expects support from her future partner as she navigates motherhood.
“I want my future baby daddy to know that I would like all the help I need,” she said.
The singer’s comments do not indicate that she is currently pregnant or that she has identified a future partner. Rather, she is describing a personal goal she hopes to pursue within the next two years.
For now, Jowy remains focused on her music while preparing for a future she says will include both her career and motherhood.
