Ugandan singing duo Kataleya and Kandle have ditched the skimpy stage outfits they once wore during performances, saying their experiences in the music industry have changed how they approach fashion.
The duo, who have spent about four years in Uganda’s music industry, explained that they now prefer a more polished look when they step on stage.
For Kataleya and Kandle, the change is not simply about appearance. They said their experiences since entering the industry have influenced their decision to move away from the outfits they wore earlier in their careers.

The singers also gave a more practical reason for the switch: nighttime performances can leave them feeling cold when they are wearing revealing outfits.
“We now prefer looking elegant and wearing sexy outfits rather than the skimpy ones we used to wear when we had just started our music career.”
They said the decision was made jointly and became serious enough for them to get rid of their old wardrobe altogether.
“These days, the skimpy outfits make us feel cold at night, and we no longer want to wear them anymore. We burnt all of them.”
The duo said their four years in the industry have brought experiences that helped shape their current outlook and contributed to their decision to change their stage image.

Their comments point to an evolving performance identity for the singers, who now appear more focused on elegance and sophistication while maintaining a fashionable stage presence.
Still, Kataleya and Kandle have not completely closed the door on their former style. They said they cannot predict what the future will bring, leaving open the possibility that their fashion choices could change again.
For now, however, the duo says the skimpy outfits are out — and their more elegant stage image is the look they are choosing to embrace.
