KAMPALA — Social media is buzzing again over Ugandan musician Uncle Chumi after a woman identified as Soloby accused him of drugging, sexual assault, and blackmail in a recent YouTube interview.

The woman clarified that contrary to earlier reports, Uncle Chumi has not been arrested, but she has filed a formal case with police alleging multiple offenses.

The Allegations

According to Soloby, Uncle Chumi allegedly slipped dangerous substances into her drink, placing her in an altered state of consciousness. While she remained partially aware, the drugs impaired her ability to make informed decisions.

During this time, she claims, Uncle Chumi recorded intimate videos of them kissing and touching each other, then used these recordings to pressure her into sexual activity.

“When someone sees you, they may think you are okay, but you are not. She was holding me at ransom because she had the pictures in her phone. She refused to delete them even when I told her to do so,” Soloby said.

The woman insists she never consented to a relationship with Uncle Chumi and that all videos were recorded against her will.

Confrontation and Assault

Soloby recounted a night when she tried to retrieve her belongings with the help of a boda driver. Uncle Chumi allegedly refused to hand over her items to a third party, demanding she collect them personally.

“I woke up and realized it was getting out of hand, and I needed to end the friendship. When I got in, she locked the door and told me I wasn’t going anywhere. She said I would spend the night there, that is when the assault started,” she narrated.

She also accused the singer of stealing three of her phones and money, further alleging that he used the stolen items as leverage to continue his harassment.

The allegations have sparked a heated conversation online, with fans expressing outrage and demanding justice:

  • “This is shocking! No one should ever be subjected to something like this.”
  • “The videos being used for blackmail is criminal! Hope the law takes action.”
  • “We need more protection for women against these abuses, especially when celebrities are involved.”

Uncle Chumi’s Past Controversies

Uncle Chumi has previously been in the headlines for controversial incidents, including confessing to a childhood robbery involving his grandmother. These new allegations add to the growing scrutiny of the musician’s personal conduct.

When asked if she intended to pursue the case further, Soloby indicated that both parties are attempting to sort out the matter, with discussions ongoing. However, she made it clear that her main concern is to ensure the intimate videos are not misused and that the alleged assault is addressed.

“When they put it in your drink, you don’t blackout completely. You can even do things, but not of your own will. You are just there,” Soloby explained.

Why This Matters

The case highlights broader concerns in Uganda’s entertainment industry regarding abuse of power, sexual misconduct, and the exploitation of women. Fans and advocacy groups are watching closely to see if authorities will take swift action against Uncle Chumi.
