Lydia Jazmine is pushing back against claims that Sheebah Karungi has not supported her enough as she prepares for her upcoming concert, insisting their friendship runs much deeper than what fans see at public events.
Speaking to the press, Jazmine explained that her relationship with Sheebah dates back to their early days at TNS, where she began her career as a backup artist for Radio and Weasel.
According to Jazmine, Sheebah’s absence from certain events should not automatically be interpreted as a lack of support. She said their friendship allows them to communicate openly and understand when either person has other commitments.
“People think Sheebah has not been there for me in the organization of my stuff because she doesn’t want to. No,” Jazmine said, explaining that she knows Sheebah well enough to understand when she is genuinely unavailable.
Jazmine specifically addressed Sheebah’s absence from a previous press conference, clarifying that the event had been organized by promoter Abtex rather than by her personally.
The singer said that when she invited Sheebah to her own press conference the following week, Sheebah told her she had a shoot scheduled for the same day. However, Sheebah reportedly promised to make an appearance later — and Jazmine said she ultimately kept that promise.
For Jazmine, the friendship cannot be measured by how frequently the two artists appear together in public.
“Me and her come from a long time, and it’s a long story,” she said, acknowledging that they may not always be seen together but emphasizing that they understand and care for each other.
“We love each other, and we’re friends who support one another. We wish the best for both of us,” Jazmine added.
She also offered perhaps the clearest indication of the level of trust between them, revealing that she believes Sheebah would trust her to care for her child if an emergency ever occurred.
“When she gives birth, though I take long to see her child, I know she trusts me a lot,” Jazmine said. “God forbid, if anything is to happen to her, I know she can trust me to stay with her son.”
For Jazmine, then, Sheebah’s support is not necessarily about being present at every press conference or public appearance. Their history, she suggested, has created a friendship where understanding matters just as much as being seen together.
