Mikie Wine has explained why he missed Yung Mulo’s concert despite their close friendship, saying pre-existing performance bookings outside Kampala made it difficult for him to attend the event.
The Ugandan dancehall singer addressed the criticism during an interview with BBS TV, explaining that he had already committed to shows in Mityana and Bukuya and did not believe he could return in time for his friend’s concert.
Mikie acknowledged his friendship with Yung Mulo but maintained that he did not want to promise an appearance he could not deliver.

“He is my friend but just like you know, I had already secured bookings and I showed you my schedule,” he said.
“Usually I do not want to lie to people that I’m coming yet I know I won’t make it. But all in all, I wished him good luck,” Mikie added.
His explanation comes after he faced criticism alongside other musicians over their absence from Yung Mulo’s concert. Rather than suggesting a falling-out between the two artists, Mikie pointed to his work commitments as the reason he could not attend.
The singer’s comments also highlight the scheduling challenges musicians can face when performances and major concerts take place around the same time.
Mikie Wine announces Friends Of Mikie Wine concert
During the interview, Mikie also turned attention to his upcoming Friends Of Mikie Wine concert, scheduled for December 5 at Skyz Hotel.

He explained that the event would take a different approach from his previous anniversary celebration, focusing on the friends and supporters who have stood by him throughout his career.
“Last year I was celebrating 15 years of Miki Wine, but this time, I decided to celebrate with my friends and show them how close they are to me,” he said.
Mikie added that he believes many people have shown him love over the years and expressed hope that the event would be a success.
“I believe there are many out there because they have over time shown me love. I believe God will pave the way for me and give me an amazing show,” he said.
The December concert is an opportunity for Mikie to celebrate those relationships while continuing his own performance schedule.
For now, the singer’s message regarding Yung Mulo is that missing the concert was a scheduling issue, not an indication that he did not wish his friend well.
