Ugandan events promoter Nobert Twizire, popularly known as Nobat Events, has appeared before Makindye Magistrates Court to answer a fresh assault charge and allegations relating to the theft and mismanagement of funds belonging to Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO.
During the proceedings, Magistrate Aidah Nanjala read Nobat a new charge of assault against Mubiru Hassan over an alleged incident on October 1, 2026, at Kibuye Police Station in Kavule Zone, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
Nobat denied the assault charge. He was remanded to Kampala Remand Prison until November 16, 2026, in connection with that charge.

The promoter was subsequently presented in court in relation to the separate case involving alleged theft of Shs1 billion and the alleged mismanagement of SACCO funds said to total Shs30 billion.
In that matter, the court granted him cash bail of Shs3 million. His sureties were also required to execute non-cash bail bonds worth Shs3 million.
As part of the bail conditions, Nobat was ordered to surrender his passport and barred from travelling outside Uganda until the charges against him are resolved.
The proceedings mark another development in the legal dispute surrounding the management of funds belonging to Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO. The allegations remain before the court and have not been established as facts.
Meanwhile, promoter Katende Mohammad, who spearheaded the filing of the case against Nobat, expressed dissatisfaction with the decision to grant him bail.
Katende said he intended to contact Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and President Yoweri Museveni to raise his concerns about the court’s decision. He credited the two leaders with helping secure Nobat’s arrest.

His reaction signals continued disagreement over how the case should proceed, particularly regarding the conditions under which the accused promoter remains out of custody.
Nobat’s legal troubles centre on allegations involving funds entrusted to Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO. The case includes claims of theft involving Shs1 billion and alleged mismanagement of funds reportedly amounting to Shs30 billion.
However, the allegations have yet to be determined by the court. Nobat’s denial of the assault charge also remains distinct from the separate SACCO-related accusations.
The matter is expected to return to court as the legal proceedings continue.
