Pastor Justine Nabbosa is setting the record straight about the longtime rumors that she and fellow gospel minister Pastor Wilson Bugembe were romantically involved.
Nabbosa said the speculation was never true, despite the pair sharing a close friendship and Bugembe occasionally helping her financially, including with rent and other needs.
According to the gospel minister, their relationship has always been platonic.
“I’m a married woman, but we’re still close friends with Pastor Wilson Bugembe. The rumors about us being an item were untrue and false. We’re still friends to date,” Nabbosa said.
The rumors gained traction during a period when Nabbosa was still single, which she believes contributed to the public speculation about her friendship with Bugembe.
She explained that the situation eventually became less of an issue after she got married.
“By that time, I had not yet got married, but when I tied the knot, everything got sorted and cleared,” she added.
Nabbosa’s comments also highlight how close friendships between public figures can sometimes attract romantic speculation, particularly when one person is unmarried and the two are frequently seen or known to associate with each other.
Away from the old rumors, Nabbosa also shared her perspective on the changing sound and style of gospel music.
Rather than criticizing contemporary gospel artists for approaching the genre differently, she said every generation has its own way of expressing faith through music.
For Nabbosa, the evolution of gospel music should be understood within the context of the generation producing it. Different artists and audiences, she suggested, may express and experience the gospel differently.
Her comments offer a notably broad view of a genre that continues to evolve, while her explanation about Bugembe puts to rest the romantic narrative that has followed their friendship for years.
