Rahmah Pinky has explained why she no longer maintains close friendships with some of her former female colleagues, saying she prefers to keep certain boundaries in place rather than become too comfortable with people.
The singer, who has previously acknowledged that she is taking her time with her music career, said she deliberately keeps her distance from female friends because she believes excessive closeness can sometimes affect respect and personal boundaries.
For Pinky, it is less about cutting people off and more about preventing relationships from developing what she considers unhealthy habits.
“The respect dies when someone gets closer to you and I am personally a principled person, so sometimes a person might not know where to stop when they come into your space.”
She continued: “So to stop developing bad habits, I keep to myself.”
Pinky’s comments offer insight into why she has chosen a more private approach to friendships, particularly with women she has previously shared close professional relationships with.
Among those mentioned in connection with her former circle are Nandor Love and Jowy Landa.
At one point, Pinky, Nandor Love, Jowy Landa and Ava Peace were known to be close, with the four female artists even coming together to form a music group.
The collaboration, however, was short-lived. The group released only one project before the members eventually went their separate ways.
Pinky has since continued to carve out her own path in Uganda’s music industry, while also being open about taking her time with her career.
Her latest comments suggest that maintaining personal space is now part of that approach. Rather than risk becoming overly comfortable in friendships, Pinky says she would rather “keep to myself” and maintain the boundaries she considers important.
For Pinky, distance appears to be less about hostility and more about protecting the principles she says guide her relationships.
