Singer Ronious UG says he is willing to give up his dreadlocks after a confrontation with his father, insisting that maintaining peace at home matters more to him than keeping the hairstyle.
A video circulating on social media recently showed Ronious being questioned by his father about his dreadlocks. In the clip, his father reportedly cited established musicians such as Mesach Ssemakula as examples of artists who succeeded without wearing dreadlocks.
The confrontation escalated, with the video appearing to show Ronious being slapped before he was told to leave the house.

Speaking during an interview with BBS TV, Ronious declined to discuss the details of what happened, saying he wanted to protect his family and keep the matter private.
“Whatever happened, I do not want to go deep into it because it was a family matter. But we are well and I’m choosing to keep whatever happened within our family,” Ronious said.
He explained that the incident was not something he had intended to make public and said his younger siblings were responsible for the footage reaching social media.
“My younger siblings made a mistake to leak what happened to social media but I will do everything my father asked me to do,” he said.
Ronious also emphasized his relationship with his father, making it clear that he does not want the public attention surrounding the incident to create a deeper family dispute.
“Home is home and he will always be my father. Whatever I do, I will always return home,” he said.
According to Ronious, his father is frequently away from home, making their confrontation an unexpected encounter after Ronious visited over the weekend.
He said his father had already heard that he had grown dreadlocks and apparently chose that opportunity to address the issue with him.

The singer now says he intends to cut the hairstyle despite the public reaction to the confrontation.
“I do not want to disrespect my father and I will cut it off,” Ronious said.
He added that he wants to return to the image his father expects from him, explaining that family considerations are more important to him than keeping his current hairstyle.
“I want to go back to the image he wants me to be in because I do not have any other family,” he said.
Ronious also said his mother had spoken to his father about the matter but that his father remained opposed to him keeping the dreadlocks.
“If I don’t do what he wants, that means even my mother will be in trouble. Cutting off the dreads is easy to have peace at home,” he said.
While the social-media conversation has focused heavily on the confrontation, Ronious has chosen not to publicly revisit the details. Instead, his message is that the family relationship comes first—and the dreadlocks can go.
