Ugandan rapper Recho Rey has opened up about witchcraft in the music industry, revealing that prayer and meditation are among the practices she uses to protect herself spiritually.
During a recent television interview, the rapper said she had never established whether anyone had attempted to bewitch her. However, she described herself as a spiritual person who takes deliberate steps to protect herself from what she considers negative energy.
“I cannot tell if someone has really ever bewitched me but what I know is I’m a very spiritual person,” Recho Rey said.

The rapper explained that her personal rituals include prayer and meditation, practices she believes help her maintain spiritual protection.
“I do as much as I can to protect myself spiritually. I have many rituals I do as a person like praying, meditating to protect myself from bad energies,” she added.
Recho Rey also expressed the belief that if someone attempted to bewitch her, the alleged spiritual harm could return to its source without her necessarily knowing about it.
“Meaning even if someone goes ahead to bewitch me, I might never know because it will definitely bounce back to them,” she said.
Her comments reflect her personal spiritual beliefs and do not establish that she has been targeted by witchcraft.
Although she has not identified herself as a victim, Recho Rey acknowledged that she believes witchcraft exists within the music industry, just as she believes it can occur in other businesses.
“I believe witchcraft is there in the music industry just like any other business,” she said.

The rapper added that she had watched interviews in which other musicians discussed their experiences and allegations involving witchcraft.
Across Uganda’s entertainment scene, some artists have publicly attributed professional or personal difficulties to alleged spiritual attacks. Recho Rey’s account, however, is centred on her own approach to spiritual well-being rather than a specific accusation against another musician.
She did not name anyone she believes has attempted to harm her, nor did she describe a particular incident involving alleged witchcraft.
Instead, her message focused on the importance she places on prayer, meditation and maintaining a sense of spiritual protection as she navigates the music industry.
