Born on July 15, 2002, in Kampala, Uganda, Galiwango Kenneth grew up in the bustling suburb of Mpererwe, a community known for its lively spirit and hardworking people.

Raised by parents Kasozi Jackson and Najjuma Joyce, Kenneth quickly learned two things: the importance of perseverance and the power of stories to bring people together.

Now at just 23 years old, Kenneth is not only running his own barbershop, but he’s also the founder of Santa Media Uganda, a rising digital platform dedicated to giving young Ugandans a voice in the fast-changing media space.

Building Dreams From the Ground Up

Kenneth’s journey is deeply rooted in education and determination.

  • Yudesi Primary School (2006–2007)
  • Grace Primary School (2008–2014)
  • Wampeewo Ntakke Secondary School (2015–2017)
  • Kitetika High School (2017–2018)
  • Princess Diana High School (2019–2020)

Like many Ugandan students, Kenneth faced the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruptions, which put schooling on pause. But instead of letting setbacks define him, he doubled down on his goals and worked hard to pass his exams, proving resilience pays off.

Entrepreneurial Hustle Started at Age 11

Kenneth’s first business idea sparked when he was only 11 years old.

In 2013, he started farming vegetables to make extra income. By 2014, with his parents’ backing, he bought two goats, nurturing them with pride.

But as every entrepreneur knows, success comes with struggles.

In 2016, Kenneth tried his hand at poultry farming, raising eight hens. Tragically, thieves stole them in May 2017.

“It hurt, but I learned every stumble builds your strength,” Kenneth recalls.

Instead of quitting, he pivoted. By 2019, he opened the Santa Barber Shop—not just a place for haircuts, but a community hub where conversations, connections, and big dreams take root.

When COVID Closed Shops, Kenneth Dreamed Bigger

The 2020 pandemic forced businesses worldwide to shut down, and Kenneth’s barbershop was no exception.

But instead of folding under pressure, he used the downtime to reimagine his future. Inspired by the stories of his neighbors in Mpererwe and their drive to hustle every day, Kenneth began to see the power of media as a unifying force.

Santa Media Uganda Is Born

In February 2025, Kenneth launched Santa Media Uganda—a digital platform covering:

  • Breaking news
  • Celebrity gossip
  • Politics and current affairs
  • Lifestyle stories made for Uganda’s youth

The name “Santa” symbolizes a gift: delivering fresh, accessible, and authentic news to audiences often overlooked by mainstream outlets.

While juggling the barbershop and media, Kenneth admits it hasn’t been easy. The Ugandan digital media industry is growing, but challenges like limited internet access, high data costs, and low digital literacy remain.

Still, Kenneth is determined to break those barriers and build a platform where young Ugandans feel seen and heard.

A Journey Fueled by Resilience

Kenneth’s story hasn’t been smooth. From losing livestock, to learning how to attract customers, to teaching himself business skills without formal training—he’s had his share of setbacks.

Yet through it all, his parents’ support and his own unstoppable drive kept him pushing forward.

Today, Santa Media Uganda stands as proof that determination and creativity can turn small beginnings into something big.

Advice for the Next Generation

For young dreamers looking up to him, Kenneth shares powerful advice:

“Start small, stay true, and don’t fear failing. Learn every day, even if it’s just one new skill.”

This mantra is not only how Kenneth built his career—it’s also what he hopes will inspire others across Uganda and beyond.

Why Kenneth’s Story Matters Right Now

Uganda’s media landscape is changing. With the rise of digital-first youth audiences, voices like Kenneth’s are crucial.

He represents a new wave of African entrepreneurs—young, ambitious, and unafraid to create their own lanes. His story resonates with:

  • Students balancing studies and hustle.
  • Entrepreneurs building businesses from scratch.
  • Content creators dreaming of breaking into media.
  • Communities who believe in the power of storytelling.

What’s Next for Kenneth?

Looking ahead, Kenneth hopes to expand Santa Media into a regional platform, reaching millions across East Africa. With a mix of celebrity coverage, politics, and lifestyle features tailored for mobile-first readers, his mission is clear:

To redefine how young Africans connect with the news—and with each other.

Final Word

From selling vegetables and raising goats to becoming a media trailblazer at 23, Galiwango Kenneth’s journey is nothing short of inspirational.

He’s proof that resilience, innovation, and community spirit can fuel big dreams—even when the odds are stacked against you.
