Singer Alexander Bagonza, popularly known as A Pass, has explained why he did not attend Lil Pazo’s highly anticipated Mbarara festival after his absence sparked questions from fans and critics.
A Pass said there was never an agreement for him to perform at the event, despite his involvement in promoting the concert.
The singer took to social media to address the speculation, making it clear that promoting another artist’s show did not mean he had committed to appearing on the lineup.
“Guys, let me clear this for those who say that I didn’t show up for Lil Pazo’s show in Mbarara. I was not supposed to be there,” A Pass said.
He explained that while he helped promote the concert, he never announced that he would attend or perform.
“I promoted the concert for him, but I never said anywhere that I was going to be there. And I was not booked to perform in Mbarara for Lil Pazo’s show,” he added.
A Pass also revealed that he had already secured another performance in Kampala on the same night, meaning he had a separate professional commitment to honor.
“I was booked to perform elsewhere in Kampala,” he said.
His comments came as he pushed back against the expectation that musicians should automatically appear at one another’s concerts simply because they are colleagues or have relationships within the industry.
A Pass even pointed out that Lil Pazo had not attended one of his own concerts, suggesting that artists can have competing bookings and other commitments on the same dates.
“Did you see him at my concert yet it was in Kampala? He must have been busy with his own bookings,” A Pass said.
For the singer, the situation ultimately comes down to how the music business works: appearing at another artist’s concert requires an actual booking rather than an assumption based on friendship or industry connections.
“I had to be booked for me to go to Mbarara to perform at his show. That is the music business,” he emphasized.
The clarification puts A Pass’ absence in a straightforward professional context: he promoted Lil Pazo’s event, but according to his account, he was never part of the performance arrangements and had another booking in Kampala.
