Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Bad Black has claimed that controversial blogger and government critic Fred Kajubi Lumbuye is staying near the Turkey-Greece border, as pressure continues on Türkiye over his presence in the country.
Bad Black, who said she previously lived in Türkiye, made the claim while discussing Lumbuye’s reported whereabouts and calls from Uganda for Turkish authorities to return him.
According to Bad Black, Lumbuye is staying in an area close to the Turkish-Greek border. She suggested that the location could potentially provide access to another route into Europe if pressure on him increases.
However, the claim has not been independently confirmed, and Lumbuye’s exact current location remains unclear.
Bad Black also claimed to have a family connection to Lumbuye, although she said the two have never met physically. According to her account, their relationship has been maintained through telephone communication.
PLU Demands Lumbuye’s Return
The claim comes amid increased pressure from supporters of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) for Lumbuye to be returned to Uganda.
On Friday, September 18, hundreds of PLU supporters marched to the Turkish Embassy in Kampala, demanding that Lumbuye be returned to Uganda to face criminal charges.
The demonstration was led by PLU Secretary General Fadil Twalla and followed an earlier directive from PLU chairman and Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The Turkish Embassy had announced that its Kampala offices would remain closed on Friday because of the planned demonstration. Embassy representatives reportedly advised protesters to pursue their concerns through diplomatic channels.
PLU leaders have accused Lumbuye of offences including incitement and cyber-related crimes. Those allegations remain subject to the relevant legal processes.
The group has also opposed reports that Lumbuye’s lawyers may have sought asylum for him in Türkiye. The precise legal status of any asylum or extradition proceedings has not been publicly clarified.
Lumbuye’s Location Remains Unconfirmed
The dispute has contributed to wider tensions between Kampala and Ankara, with Gen. Muhoozi publicly criticising Türkiye over its handling of Lumbuye and other bilateral issues.
Lumbuye has lived in Türkiye for several years, according to the information contained in the original report. However, his current location and legal status have not been independently established.
The Turkey-Greece border is a sensitive and heavily monitored frontier. As a result, suggestions that Lumbuye could cross into Greece remain unverified claims rather than established facts.
Bad Black’s statement therefore provides a claim about Lumbuye’s possible whereabouts but does not independently establish that he is currently living near the border.
Diplomatic Pressure Continues
Attention remains focused on whether Ankara will respond to Uganda’s demands for Lumbuye’s return and whether the dispute will lead to formal action.
The Turkish government had not issued a detailed public response to the PLU’s extradition demand by the time of reporting.
The legal status of any extradition or asylum proceedings involving Lumbuye also remains unclear based on the available information.
