A long-awaited East African music collaboration could be taking shape after Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz and Ugandan singer Aziz Azion were spotted exchanging phone contacts backstage at Comedy Store UG.
The interaction has sparked fresh excitement among fans, particularly because Diamond has repeatedly expressed his admiration for Aziz and his desire to record a song with him.
During a press conference ahead of his Thursday night performance at Comedy Store UG, the Wasafi boss once again mentioned the Ugandan singer, describing him as his favourite artist and revealing that he had never personally met him.

“I would love to do a song with Aziz. He’s my favourite artist. I love his music as well. I have never met him, trust me, but I’d love to meet him and maybe work with him,” Diamond said.
That wish appears to have moved a step closer to reality after the two musicians finally met at the event and were seen sharing their phone contacts backstage.
The exchange has raised hopes that their interaction could lead to discussions about a possible studio session and, eventually, a joint release.
Diamond’s interest in working with Aziz is not entirely new. The Tanzanian superstar had previously expressed a desire to collaborate with him, while Aziz has also remained hopeful that the partnership could happen.
The latest meeting is therefore significant for fans who have followed the possibility of the two artists joining forces over the years.

A collaboration would bring together two established names from East Africa’s music scene, potentially creating an opportunity to connect their audiences across Uganda and Tanzania.
However, neither artist has officially announced a recording session, confirmed a song title or revealed a release date. Exchanging contacts is an encouraging development, but it does not yet establish that a collaboration is underway.
For now, fans will be watching to see whether the backstage meeting at Comedy Store UG becomes the beginning of the musical partnership Diamond has publicly said he wants.
