Kampala is set for a colourful celebration of Indian cuisine, culture and family entertainment as the Diwali Food Festival 2026 takes place at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Sunday, November 1.
Organised by Speke Resort Munyonyo and the Indian Association of Uganda, with event management by Talent Africa Group, the festival will welcome food lovers, families and friends for an afternoon and evening celebrating Diwali, widely known as the Festival of Lights.
The event is open to the public, with gates opening at 2:30 p.m. Visitors will have several hours to explore food stalls, shopping experiences and entertainment before a fireworks display scheduled for 8 p.m.
Indian Cuisine, Shopping and Family Fun
Food will be one of the main attractions, with stalls serving dishes and flavours from different regions of India. The festival will offer visitors an opportunity to explore Indian culinary traditions while enjoying a lively cultural gathering in Kampala.
Beyond the food, guests can expect shopping stalls, drinks, music and entertainment throughout the event. Organisers have also planned a dedicated children’s play area, giving younger visitors activities to enjoy while families take in the festivities.
The combination of food, shopping and entertainment is designed to make the festival an outing for people of different ages and backgrounds.
Celebrating the Spirit of Diwali
Diwali is traditionally associated with light, hope, renewal and the triumph of good over evil. The annual celebration brings together cultural and religious traditions, with lights and festive gatherings playing a central role.
At Speke Resort Munyonyo, the festival will provide an opportunity for Ugandans and visitors from different communities to experience elements of Indian culture in a social setting.
The fireworks display, scheduled for 8 p.m., will be one of the evening’s main attractions. Fireworks will also be available for purchase at the event.
The festival comes as Kampala continues to host major entertainment and cultural gatherings that bring together audiences through food, music and shared experiences.
