DJ Nimrod Reveals He Carried Bags for Top DJs While Building His Career
Before becoming one of Uganda’s recognized deejays, DJ Nimrod says he started from the ground up — carrying equipment, assisting established DJs and learning every detail of the craft from those who had already made their mark.
The Ugandan entertainer recently reflected on his early career journey, explaining that he never viewed behind-the-scenes tasks as a burden. Instead, he saw them as valuable opportunities to observe, learn and understand what it takes to succeed behind the decks.
For Nimrod, being close to experienced deejays was a classroom, and every event became a chance to sharpen his skills.
Learning From Uganda’s Veteran DJs
Nimrod revealed that during the early stages of his career, he often supported some of Uganda’s biggest deejays, including DJ Shiru, DJ Silverback and DJ Rota.
“I used to carry bags for celebrity deejays like DJ Shiru, Silverback, Rota and many others so that I could learn what they were doing,” he said.
The DJ explained that simply being around established performers allowed him to study their techniques, from controlling crowds to managing performances and understanding the energy required to keep audiences engaged.
Rather than rushing for the spotlight, Nimrod focused on absorbing knowledge from people who had already mastered the profession.
By watching their approach and studying their methods, he gradually developed his own identity behind the decks.
DJ Silverback and DJ Shiru Played a Role in His Growth
Nimrod also highlighted the support he received from veteran DJ Silverback during his early years.
According to Nimrod, Silverback regularly gave him opportunities to accompany him to events, assist with setups and even showcase his own skills during performances.
“DJ Silverback gave me so many gigs whenever I walked with him. Sometimes I would set up his equipment, and he would also ask me to play and showcase my skills,” he explained.
Those opportunities gave Nimrod valuable practical experience and helped him gain confidence as a performer.
He also credited DJ Shiru for being welcoming and allowing him opportunities to perform alongside him at different events.
The support from established figures helped create a pathway for Nimrod as he worked toward becoming a respected name in Uganda’s entertainment scene.

A Career Built Through Patience and Learning
Today, DJ Nimrod has established himself as one of Uganda’s recognized deejays, but he says his hunger to improve has never stopped.
Despite his achievements, he believes there is always something new to learn from both experienced entertainers and emerging talent.
“I’m not the best, but I keep learning every day—from the deejays who came before me and those who are doing well today, including myself,” he said.
His approach reflects a career philosophy built around humility and continuous growth.
Rather than seeing success as a final destination, Nimrod views it as an ongoing process that requires adaptation and openness to new ideas.
Why His Story Matters
Nimrod’s journey highlights a common path in the entertainment industry, where many successful performers begin by working behind the scenes before gaining recognition.
For aspiring DJs and young creatives, his experience shows the importance of exposure, mentorship and taking advantage of learning opportunities.
The willingness to start small and learn from others can often become the foundation for long-term success.
In an industry where talent is only one part of the equation, experience and understanding of the craft can make a major difference.
DJ Nimrod’s story is a reminder that many successful entertainers do not begin with fame or recognition.
Before commanding crowds, he was watching from the sidelines, carrying bags and studying the people he hoped to one day stand alongside.
That early commitment to learning helped shape his career and continues to influence how he views the entertainment industry today.
As he continues performing and growing, Nimrod says he remains a student of the craft — learning from both the legends who came before him and the new talents emerging today.
