Laika Music’s plans to release a fully packaged album in 2026 may not happen as expected, with the Ugandan singer revealing that she is still working to secure international collaborations for the project.
The songstress had hoped to take her music career to another level this year with a major album release. However, with the year nearing its end, she says the project could be pushed back as she works to bring her international ambitions to life.
Speaking about the album, Laika disclosed that she already has approximately 16 songs lined up but is not yet ready to release the project without the collaborations she wants.

“I’m just living each day as it goes. I used to plan so much, and things would just happen differently. I thought I was going to release my album this year. I’ve got like 16 songs on it, but I’m chasing my collaborations, international collaborations,” she said.
For Laika, the project is about more than putting a collection of songs on streaming platforms. She wants to give the album a major launch and create a body of work that can reach listeners outside Uganda.
The singer admitted that she may or may not release the album before the end of 2026, depending on whether the outstanding collaborations come together.
“I want to make sure they happen on that album, and they haven’t happened yet, so I might or might not release it this year. I want to give it my all and do an album release, you know, everything,” she explained.
She added that her ambitions for the project extend beyond the local music market.
“I want to make it huge. Because this one, I want to do it not just for Uganda, but even beyond Uganda. The year has had glitches in it,” Laika said.
Although the album’s release date remains uncertain, the singer insists that she has not slowed down creatively. She revealed that she has been recording several songs and experimenting with different sounds that she believes will surprise her audience when they are eventually released.
“I have so many sounds and have been working on so many songs. You guys, if you get to listen to my unreleased songs, you would go mad. But again, God’s timing,” she said.

Laika also hinted at a significant evolution in her music and artistic identity over the next two years, promising fans a different version of herself.
“I can tell you, in the next two years, you won’t see the same Laika. I will give you a very different version of me,” she added.
For now, the singer has not confirmed a final release date for the album. Her immediate focus appears to be securing the collaborations she wants and preparing a launch that matches her wider ambitions.
With around 16 songs already in the works, the next stage will be whether the international partnerships come together in time for a 2026 release or push the project into 2027.
Laika’s comments suggest she is willing to wait rather than rush the album, as she works toward a project she hopes will introduce a new chapter in her career and expand her reach beyond Uganda.
