Uganda’s music industry was thrown into a frenzy this weekend after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made a jaw-dropping revelation about singer Eddy Kenzo’s family background during a high-profile event in Kampala.

The President was addressing members of the press and creatives at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort on Saturday, where the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) had gathered to officially launch the Yoweri Music Album ahead of the upcoming general elections.

Museveni Praises Kenzo’s Accountability

During his remarks, Museveni took a moment to recognize the UNMF president, Eddy Kenzo, for his integrity when handling government funds.

“I applaud the honesty of Kenzo because the money we gave him, he used it,” Museveni said, commending the BET Award winner for his transparency.

But the praise was only the beginning. Moments later, the President dropped a revelation that had the entire hall buzzing.

The Shocking Revelation: “Kenzo Is Chefe Ali’s Son”

In front of a stunned audience, Museveni revealed that Eddy Kenzo’s father was a soldier named Chefe Ali.

“Kenzo is a son of a soldier. He is the son of Chefe Ali. Did you tell them your father, or are you hiding it? They told me he is the son of Chefe Ali. Where are the other children of Chef Ali? And he even resembles them, they look alike,” Museveni remarked.

The crowd reacted with shock and amusement, with many laughing and whispering as Museveni playfully pressed Kenzo about the revelation.

Why This Matters

For years, Eddy Kenzo has described himself as a product of the ghetto, often sharing how he spent much of his life on the streets after losing his parents at a young age. His rise from poverty to becoming an international music star has been central to his story — one that has inspired millions of fans worldwide.

Museveni’s comments now add a surprising twist to Kenzo’s personal narrative, linking him directly to a respected soldier, Chefe Ali, a name many Ugandans are now curious about.

Internet Reactions Explode

As expected, Museveni’s revelation quickly spread across social media, with Ugandans chiming in with mixed reactions:

  • “So Kenzo has been hiding this? Ghetto prince with a soldier father? Wow.”
  • “Museveni really knows how to drop a bombshell casually.”
  • “Whether ghetto or soldier’s son, Kenzo is still our legend.”
  • “Now we want to know more about Chefe Ali. Who exactly was he?”

Some fans defended Kenzo, insisting that his ghetto upbringing is still valid regardless of his parentage, while others suggested that the revelation could reshape how people perceive his life story.

Eddy Kenzo’s Silence

As of now, Eddy Kenzo has not publicly responded to Museveni’s revelation. It remains unclear whether the singer will address the matter or continue focusing on his leadership role within the UNMF.

Still, the moment highlights how deeply intertwined Uganda’s entertainment scene and politics have become, with Kenzo at the center of both.

🔥 Do you think President Museveni’s revelation changes Eddy Kenzo’s “ghetto to glory” story — or does it only make him more legendary? Drop your thoughts in the comments and keep it locked on E Page One for more exclusive updates.
