Susan Makula Bujjingo has urged women to know their worth and prioritize personal growth, questioning why some women become emotionally overwhelmed over men who have not yet achieved financial stability.
Speaking at the Beauty Beyond The Scars event, Makula, who is now a mother of two, encouraged women to value themselves rather than placing their happiness entirely in the hands of their partners.
Her message came with a blunt question about why women should cry over men who are still renting their homes.
“Let’s uplift ourselves. Show your worth. Why would you cry for someone who’s still renting? Let’s cry for people who have built houses.”
Makula clarified that she was not intending to disrespect men who rent their homes. Instead, she said women should consider stability when choosing the partners with whom they want to build their lives.

She explained that renting can mean a person may move from one home to another, potentially leaving a woman without the sense of permanence she wants in a relationship.
“Some women have only a key to the man’s house and act like they are holding his heart, yet he’s still renting. You won’t heal that way.”
Makula’s remarks were ultimately framed around self-worth rather than simply home ownership.
She encouraged women to invest in themselves, understand their value and avoid making a romantic partner the sole source of their happiness.
Her comments added another perspective to the conversations at Beauty Beyond The Scars, an event that brought women together to discuss personal experiences, relationships and the challenges they face.
For Makula, the message was straightforward: women should not lose themselves while waiting for a relationship to provide the security, identity or happiness they can also build for themselves.
