Ugandan singer Tuff B has revealed the pivotal role Bebe Cool played in shaping his music career, particularly in mastering live performances. Speaking on a popular YouTube podcast, Tuff B credited Bebe Cool for his stage presence and studio motivation, tracing much of his musical confidence back to his early years under Gagamel Music.

“I’m now a very good performer of live music, and that’s because of Bebe Cool. I’ll forever be thankful for that,” Tuff B said.

From Music Mentorship to Politics

After parting ways with Bebe Cool’s Gagamel Music, Tuff B took a surprising turn into politics. He joined Bobi Wine’s political camp under the National Unity Platform (NUP) and contested for the Makindye East MP seat. Although he didn’t secure the party flag, he went on to run as an independent candidate.

Despite the political pivot, Tuff B continues to acknowledge the lasting influence of Bebe Cool on his music journey.

Motivation in the Studio and On Stage

Tuff B revealed that Bebe Cool not only inspired his live performances but also encouraged him to record music professionally in the studio.

“He gave me the motivation to go into the studio. Because of my contribution as a journalist on TV, drawing a line and supporting him—since he’s a good artist—he recognized that and gave me a collaboration, which became a hit,” Tuff B shared.

A Mutually Beneficial Relationship

Tuff B emphasized that his relationship with Bebe Cool was not one-sided. While Bebe Cool mentored him musically, Tuff B also leveraged his TV journalism platforms to promote and praise Bebe Cool, creating a win-win dynamic.

“The help wasn’t one-sided. I also did my part, especially on TV, promoting and praising him, and I got rewarded for it,” he explained.

Legacy of Mentorship in Ugandan Music

Tuff B’s story underscores the importance of mentorship in Uganda’s music scene. Many artists, like him, benefit from guidance, exposure, and collaboration early in their careers. Bebe Cool’s influence, in particular, demonstrates how established musicians can shape the next generation while leaving a lasting mark on the industry.

Fans and aspiring artists continue to look up to such mentor-mentee relationships as examples of how talent, guidance, and opportunity can combine to create lasting success.
