Uganda’s biggest celebration of fashion is officially back on the calendar.
The organisers of Uganda International Fashion Week (UIFW) have confirmed that the 2026 edition will take place from August 31 to September 5, months after the event was postponed because of the Ebola outbreak earlier this year.
With preparations now back in full swing, the six-day showcase is expected to reunite some of Uganda’s top designers, creatives, entrepreneurs and fashion enthusiasts for a packed programme of runway presentations, exhibitions, business forums and networking opportunities.
As one of Africa’s longest-running fashion platforms, UIFW is once again preparing to put Uganda’s creative industry in the spotlight.
A Week Dedicated to Fashion and Business
According to the organisers, this year’s event will feature a diverse lineup designed to celebrate both creativity and entrepreneurship.
Attendees can expect runway showcases highlighting established and emerging designers, alongside exhibitions where fashion businesses and manufacturers can display their work.
The programme will also include business forums and networking sessions aimed at connecting creatives with industry stakeholders and potential partners.
The event continues its tradition of serving as more than a fashion showcase by creating opportunities for collaboration, learning and market access.
A Legacy Built Over Two Decades
Uganda International Fashion Week was founded in 2003 by fashion entrepreneur Santa Anzo.
Over the years, the event has evolved into one of Africa’s leading fashion platforms, helping showcase Ugandan talent while connecting designers to regional and international markets.
Beyond the runway, UIFW has also positioned itself as a platform that promotes entrepreneurship, supports job creation and encourages growth within Uganda’s fashion and creative industries.
Its continued presence has helped elevate local designers while attracting attention from fashion professionals across the continent.

“Fashion for Impact” Takes Center Stage
The 2026 edition will be held under the theme “Fashion for Impact.”
According to the organisers, this year’s focus will be on empowering women, young people, refugees and persons with disabilities through fashion and enterprise development.
The theme reflects UIFW’s broader objective of demonstrating how fashion can contribute to economic opportunities and social inclusion beyond the glamour of the runway.
By combining creativity with entrepreneurship, the organisers hope to continue building pathways for emerging talent while encouraging inclusive participation across the industry.
Grand Finale Set for Kampala Serena Hotel
The week-long celebration will conclude with the Grand Finale Gala at Kampala Serena Hotel on September 5.
Organisers have confirmed that tickets are already on sale, while registration remains open for designers, exhibitors, manufacturers and other creatives interested in participating in this year’s edition.
The open registration is expected to attract both returning participants and newcomers looking to showcase their work before local and international audiences.
Since its establishment in 2003, Uganda International Fashion Week has become one of the country’s flagship fashion events.
The platform has consistently brought together designers, entrepreneurs, manufacturers and fashion enthusiasts while helping promote Uganda’s creative economy.
Earlier this year, organisers postponed the 2026 edition because of the Ebola outbreak. With the event now rescheduled, preparations have resumed ahead of what is expected to be one of the industry’s biggest annual gatherings.

Why It Matters
Fashion has become an increasingly important contributor to Uganda’s creative economy, supporting designers, textile manufacturers, models, photographers and numerous other professionals.
Events like Uganda International Fashion Week provide opportunities for local brands to gain visibility, establish business relationships and access wider regional and international markets.
The event’s continued emphasis on entrepreneurship and inclusion also reflects the growing recognition of fashion as both a cultural and economic driver.
Behind every runway show is a network of designers, tailors, stylists, photographers, makeup artists and entrepreneurs working to turn creative ideas into thriving businesses.
For many participants, Uganda International Fashion Week represents more than an opportunity to showcase clothing—it offers a platform to build careers, expand professional networks and reach audiences that might otherwise remain out of reach
With new dates confirmed and preparations underway, Uganda International Fashion Week 2026 is once again poised to celebrate the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit shaping the future of African fashion.
