Ugandan Celebrities Rally Behind Critically Ill Davido UG as Fundraiser Seeks Over Shs50 Million
A fundraising campaign has been launched to support Ibrahim Muwonge, popularly known as Davido UG, as the well-known Kampala bar host and events videographer remains in intensive care while undergoing treatment for multiple medical conditions.
Known across Kampala’s entertainment scene for his striking resemblance to Nigerian superstar Davido and his energetic personality, Davido UG has become a familiar face at social events over the years.
Now, friends, celebrities, and well-wishers are coming together in hopes of raising more than Shs50 million to help cover his growing medical expenses.
The fundraising effort comes as his condition has been described as critical by those close to him.
Friends Share an Update on His Health
Speaking about Davido UG’s condition, his close friend Allan Buyinza, also known as Genius Levy, shared details about the medical challenges he is currently facing.
According to Levy, Davido UG is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receiving treatment for several health conditions.
He said Davido UG is being treated for high blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, kidney problems, a bacterial infection, and a swollen leg that doctors say is at risk of amputation. Levy also said doctors have identified excessive acid levels in his body.
Levy further explained that Davido UG has lived with high blood pressure and diabetes for about three years, but his condition reportedly worsened approximately two weeks ago.
At the time of the update, he said Davido UG remained unconscious and was unable to speak.
According to Allan Buyinza (Genius Levy), Davido UG is still in the ICU in a critical condition and is currently unconscious.

Hospital Transfers and Rising Medical Costs
Levy also outlined the hospitals where Davido UG has received treatment.
He said they initially sought care at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital before being referred to St. Francis Hospital Nsambya and later Medipal International Hospital.
However, because of the increasing treatment costs, friends and family are now considering transferring him to Mulago National Referral Hospital.
According to Levy, the financial burden continues to grow each day Davido UG remains in intensive care.
He noted that dialysis is expected to be part of the treatment process and described it as a long-term and expensive medical requirement.
For that reason, the fundraising campaign aims to raise more than Shs50 million to help cover hospital bills and ongoing treatment.
Celebrities Step Forward to Help
Levy said the appeal has received support from several well-known figures in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
According to him, media personality Sheilah Gashumba, Tashi Hubby, and what he described as the “Munyonyo boys” have contributed toward the fundraising effort.
Singer Lydia Jazmine has also used her social media platforms to raise awareness about Davido UG’s condition and encourage support.
Those close to him say the response from friends and celebrities reflects the strong relationships he has built while working within Kampala’s nightlife and entertainment industry.
