Victor Kamenyo Responds to Child Neglect Allegations, Says School Costs Sparked the Dispute
Ugandan rapper Victor Kamenyo has publicly responded to allegations by his baby mama, Ruth Akoragye, accusing him of neglecting their son, saying the disagreement is rooted in financial decisions surrounding their child’s upbringing rather than an unwillingness to provide support.
Speaking about the matter, Kamenyo rejected the suggestion that he had abandoned his parental responsibilities. Instead, he said ongoing disagreements over school transport costs and other daily expenses created tension between the two parents, eventually leading to the accusations against him.
His remarks come after Ruth Akoragye publicly accused the musician of failing to support their child.
Kamenyo Says the Dispute Began After Their Son Started School
According to Kamenyo, the conflict intensified when their son turned three years old and began attending school.
He explained that Ruth requested Shs 40,000 every day to cover Uber transportation to and from school.
While acknowledging the importance of ensuring their son got to school safely, Kamenyo said he felt the daily transport costs were too high, especially when less expensive alternatives were available.
“She told me when the son makes three years, he starts school, but every day she was asking for Shs 40,000 for Uber and I saw that’s a lot of money because monthly that’s Shs 1.2 million and Shs 3.4 million a term. She insisted on it and I stood as a man and refused.”
According to the rapper, that disagreement marked the beginning of ongoing disputes between the two.
He claimed that after he declined to continue paying for the Uber rides, Ruth chose to keep covering those transport costs herself.
He Says the Overall Costs Became Too High
Kamenyo also revealed that the school had awarded their son a bursary, reducing the amount payable for school attendance.
According to him, the bursary meant they were paying Shs 15,000 per day in school fees.
However, he argued that combining those costs with daily Uber transport, food, and other necessities became financially unsustainable.
He added that both he and Ruth have older children from previous relationships, making it difficult to meet every expense without placing significant strain on their finances.
“Even at school, they had given the kid a bursary to be paying Shs 15,000 per day and we both already have other older kids. I couldn’t pay that amount plus Uber money, then food and other necessities, and it’d shoot to Shs 100,000 every day, so I couldn’t manage and this made her angry.”
Kamenyo maintained that his decision was based on affordability rather than a refusal to care for his son.
He also expressed regret over the disagreement.
“I ask for her forgiveness, but I couldn’t strain myself.”

Throughout his explanation, Kamenyo insisted that the accusations should not be interpreted as evidence that he abandoned his parental responsibilities.
