Police in Kabalagala have arrested 12 Senior One students after a viral video showed a group of boys assaulting a fellow teenager in Nakibinge Zone, Makindye Division, Kampala.
The suspects are minors aged between 14 and 17, according to police. A 16-year-old boy has been identified as the prime suspect after he was seen in the video punching the victim while other boys surrounded him.
The assault reportedly occurred at about 6 p.m. on September 13, 2026, in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli Parish.
Police Arrest 12 Students
Police arrested the students on September 17 and 18 following an intelligence-led operation.
The final arrests were made at about 2 a.m. in Nakibinge Zone as investigators moved to identify those involved in the assault and establish their individual roles.
Police said the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said investigators are also examining what led to the confrontation.
Victim Receiving Treatment
The victim, who is also about 16 years old, is receiving medical treatment at his mother’s home in Nakibinge Zone.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the assault and determine the role played by each of the 12 suspects.
Kawala condemned violence involving minors and said the suspects would be handled under procedures governing juvenile offenders.
“The Uganda Police Force strongly condemns acts of violence, particularly those involving minors,” Kawala said.
She added that police would provide further information as the investigation progresses.
The arrests follow the circulation of the video online, which brought the incident to public attention and prompted police investigations.
