Juliana Kanyomozi Says Racheal Namubiru Came Close to Following Her Path
Ugandan music star Juliana Kanyomozi has opened up about the current generation of artists, sharing her thoughts on whether another musician has emerged with a similar combination of talent, identity, and presence.
The celebrated singer said she has not yet seen an artist who reminds her of the version of herself from the early stages of her career.
According to Juliana, finding someone who represents the same journey she had decades ago is not easy because every artist develops differently.
“I have not yet seen anyone. I think I would need to think about it, but I have not seen any Juliana of 30 years ago,” she said.
Her comments have sparked conversations about musical legacy, influence, and the challenge of comparing artists from different generations.

Juliana Reflects on Her Early Career Journey
Juliana explained that when people talk about the “Juliana of 30 years ago,” they are referring to a young artist who was still discovering her sound and building her identity.
“The Juliana of 30 years ago is that young artist who is just starting out and is trying to find themselves,” she added.
Over the years, Juliana has become one of Uganda’s most recognized female voices, known for her vocal ability and long-standing impact on the country’s music industry.
Her career has included major performances, successful songs, and a reputation as one of the artists who helped shape modern Ugandan pop music.
Racheal Namubiru Stood Out to Juliana
Although Juliana said she has not found another artist exactly like herself, she pointed to singer Racheal Namubiru as someone who once caught her attention.
Juliana first encountered Racheal during Tusker Project Fame 4 in 2010, where she served as one of the judges.
According to Juliana, Racheal’s talent reminded her of her own early years as an upcoming musician.
“I used to see myself in her, but she disappeared. I do not know where she went; she was called Racheal Namubiru,” Juliana said.
She praised Racheal’s vocals and described her as an artist who carried qualities that reminded her of her earlier career.
“She reminded me of Juliana of Sabrina’s; her vocals and everything,” she added.

Racheal Namubiru’s Music Journey
Racheal Namubiru gained attention after her appearance on Tusker Project Fame 4, where she became recognized for her vocal performances.
After the competition, she went on to release gospel music, including songs such as “Nzize,” which attracted attention because of her singing ability.
However, according to Juliana’s comments, Racheal later became less visible in the music scene.
Juliana said she was unsure about Racheal’s current activities, noting that she did not know where the singer had gone.
“I think she is a gospel singer, but I don’t know where she is,” she said.
Why Juliana’s Comments Matter
Juliana Kanyomozi’s reflections highlight how difficult it is for artists to leave a lasting mark that combines talent, consistency, and a unique identity.
The music industry continues producing new voices, but established stars often have a different perspective on what makes an artist truly stand out.
Her mention of Racheal Namubiru also brings attention back to a singer many fans remember for her vocal ability and early promise.

The Legacy Conversation in Ugandan Music
For many artists, building a career is not only about having a strong voice or releasing popular songs. It also involves maintaining visibility, connecting with audiences, and evolving with changing times.
Juliana’s comments show the impact she has had on younger musicians who have followed her career.
As Uganda’s music scene continues to grow, discussions about influence and legacy remain part of the conversation around the country’s biggest stars.
Juliana may not have identified a direct successor, but her recognition of Racheal Namubiru shows the lasting importance of talent that leaves an impression.
