Singer Lydia Jazmine has reflected on her journey as a performing artist, revealing that years of touring have taken her to nearly every part of Uganda.
As she prepares for her upcoming concert, the singer estimated that she has performed in about 80% of the country, crediting regional tours for helping her build a strong connection with fans beyond Kampala.
Jazmine, however, acknowledged that Uganda is a large country and believes no artist can honestly claim to have performed everywhere.
For her, the journey has been about reaching as many audiences as possible whenever opportunities arise.
“Uganda Is Too Big”
Speaking during an interview on Galaxy TV, Lydia Jazmine explained that Uganda’s size and diversity make it difficult for any musician to say they have covered every location.
According to the singer, some areas are extremely remote and do not frequently host entertainment events.
“I don’t think there’s someone who has been everywhere. Uganda is too big. There are places that are so remote and don’t hold shows, but if they organize shows, we have been there.”
Despite those challenges, she said she and her team have consistently made efforts to travel beyond the usual entertainment centers whenever shows are organized.
The singer believes those experiences have helped her understand audiences across different regions and strengthen her relationship with fans nationwide.
Northern Uganda Stands Out for Her
Among the different regions she has visited, Jazmine highlighted Northern Uganda as one of the areas where she has received remarkable support.
She explained that what makes the connection special is that many fans there have embraced her music despite still learning the Luganda language in which many of her songs are performed.
“It’s actually very interesting because most of those people are just learning Luganda.”
For Jazmine, that support demonstrates the power of music to cross language and cultural barriers.
She believes fans in Northern Uganda have connected with her songs because of the emotions and messages behind the music, rather than only the language used.
Western Uganda Also Remains a Strong Market
The singer also praised Western Uganda for the support she has received throughout her career.
According to Jazmine, both Northern and Western Uganda have played a major role in expanding her fan base.
She explained that while Central Uganda remains her home and a place where artists often interact with fans more regularly, audiences in other regions experience performances differently because they may only see their favorite artists occasionally.
“Central is home and they love us, but they know us and see us often.”
She added that fans outside Kampala often bring a different level of excitement because appearances from artists can feel like special occasions.
Eastern Uganda’s Growing Influence
Jazmine also noted that Eastern Uganda is becoming an increasingly important market for her music.
While she described the East as a region that is still developing in terms of her connection with audiences, she believes the response has continued to grow.
“But now the East is also picking up.”
The singer’s comments highlight the changing landscape of Uganda’s music industry, where artists are increasingly looking beyond Kampala to build nationwide audiences.
