Ugandan musician Lutty Neika has hit back at fellow artist Kapeke, declaring that he is not musically or mentally superior to him as tensions between the two continue to grow.
Lutty’s response follows an alleged incident in which Kapeke reportedly criticised his performance after he had left the stage, describing it as boring and making other remarks that Lutty considered disrespectful.
Speaking about the dispute, Lutty rejected the suggestion that Kapeke was above him as an artist, insisting that they could compete on equal terms if given the opportunity.
“He isn’t better than me musically, mentally and in anything. If they put us there, we both can compete,” Lutty said.
He also stressed that respect should not depend on someone’s appearance or social standing.
“I personally think everyone deserves respect, no matter of their looks and status, so what he did wasn’t right,” he added.
Lutty Neika Says He Had Never Met Kapeke
The singer expressed further disappointment over the alleged remarks, saying he had no previous relationship or disagreement with Kapeke that might explain the situation.
“It was actually my first time to see him. I have never had any issues with him, so I don’t understand why he did what he did,” Lutty said.

According to Lutty, the absence of any prior conflict made the alleged incident particularly difficult for him to understand.
His comments frame the dispute as a question of professional courtesy, with the singer arguing that fellow musicians should treat one another with respect regardless of their respective profiles in the industry.
Lutty Calls for an Apology
Lutty has called on Kapeke to apologise over the incident, warning that the disagreement could escalate further if the matter is not addressed.
However, the available account does not include a response from Kapeke to Lutty’s allegations.
For now, the dispute centres on Lutty’s account of what happened and his demand for an apology. Whether Kapeke will respond publicly remains unclear.
The exchange adds to the tensions that can emerge between artists in Uganda’s music scene, where disagreements over performances and perceived disrespect can quickly become public controversies.
